Transfer of royal mummies
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, head of the Museum of Civilization Authority, revealed that preparations are underway to hold a global celebration worthy of the majestic procession to transport the 22 royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the Museum of Civilization, before the end of the year, in the presence of senior guests and world ambassadors, and that the procession will be organized from The Egyptian Museum, leading to the Museum of Civilization and Official Openness, in the presence of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in one day.
Dr. Khaled Al-Anani ordered the Ministry's capabilities to emerge from this unique event in a manner befitting Egypt's status and its tourist and archaeological reputation.
He added that the presence of royal mummies in the Museum of Civilization will add to its global position as one of the most important quality museums in the world. All spaces around the museum will be exploited for investment projects.
For her part, Deputy Supervisor for Archaeological Affairs, Enas Gamal, at the museum confirmed that 20 of the 22 mummies will be displayed to the museum in two showcases designed and manufactured in Germany. The special hall will display them in the form of a cellar and a cemetery in line with the nature of the mummies, and the coffins for mummies and artifacts will be displayed for the first time Which was found with the mummies, each mummy on the edge with its coffin next to it.
Transfer will be done by 4 December 2020.
