Completion of the re-installation of an exact copy of the Karnak Kings List in the Temple of Akh Menu in the Karnak Temples
the Karnak Temples in Luxor witnessed, yesterday, the installation of a replica of the List of the Karnak Kings, which is considered one of the most important sources of ancient Egyptian history that mention the names of the great kings of Egypt and their order, in addition to the lists of Abydos and Saqqara, the Palermo Stone, and the Turin Papyrus.
The reproduction of the list of Karnak kings that was installed yesterday is one of the important projects that were worked on during the last period, given the historical importance of the list, which is currently on display in the Louvre Museum in the French capital, Paris, since it was moved in 1843, from the Temple of Brother Menno in Karnak, noting that Until a copy of this list was installed in the same original place in the temple. It is an exact replica of the original list.
It was made at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Knooz Factory for Archaeological Reproductions, and the work on copying it took approximately three months that re-installing this copy from the list will contribute greatly to introducing visitors to the Karnak temples to ancient Egyptian history, the ancient Egyptian civilization, and the names of its great kings.
The Karnak List was built by King Thutmose III to mention the names of his ancestors, as it contains 61 king names from the kings of ancient Egypt, beginning with the name of King Sneferu, founder of the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom and father of King Khufu, owner of the Great Pyramid. In Giza, it ends with the name of King Tuthmosis III of the Eighteenth Dynasty of the New Kingdom.
